Hi and Welcome to Malapascua Island
If you have just arrived, you are probably a little tired from the trip up here but don’t worry, life is about to slow down.
If you have landed in a built up area you have landed on Bario beach – it’s where 95% of boats land. the first thing you will need to do is arrange you accommodation for the night but if it’s before 9pm there’s plenty of time, why not have a fruit juice, beer or a cocktail in the sunset bar, it’s nice and relaxed and you can ask around for suggestions on where to stay. The sunset bar is just 20 meters north of the main landing area, it’s above French Kiss divers.
If none of the above is helping, we have a few suggestions on where to stay based on value for money.
For the cheapest accommodation there are a number of dorms on Malapascua and the price per head is ₱300-400.
The closest to the main landing area on Bario Beach is in La Dolce Vita (next to the very popular Maldito’s bar) – dorms are ₱350 per night and you have a beautiful view of the ocean from the balcony.
Next we have Villa Sandra which is a very popular backpackers and is usually fully booked. Villa Sandra is located one “block” back from the beach – just 3 minutes walk. Dorm beds are again ₱350 per night but there are a few other accommodation options including private rooms. Again, Villa Sandra is usually fully booked – especially when arriving in the evenings.

Another very popular dorm is Thresher Cove, it’s located 30 minutes walk up the island but they provide free motorcycle transport for all of they guests – even when you first arrive. Thresher cove also has a beautiful pool and dive shop. The dorm beds are a little more expensive at ₱500 but they are air conditioned and each dorm has it’s own dedicated comfort room.

Lastly we have Malapascua Budget Inn, with the cheapest dorm beds in our selection at ₱200 per night, Malapascua Budget Inn is centrally located but offers self catering kitchen and a friendly bean bag bar. To get to Malapascua Budget Inn as a local for a “Motor”, the cost will be ₱10-20 per person.

BB’s Lodging House is an all round excellent choice, it’s right next to the most popular budget eatery Ging Ging’s and offers rooms from ₱500-1,500 per night (good for 2 persons) – also longer stays are negotiable. BB’s is located just behind the main Bounty Beach – close to TSD Dive shop.
White Sand Bungalows offers rooms from ₱500-2,500 per night and is ideally situated on Bario beach with beautiful views and close to Maldito’s Bar
